My Jiu-Jitsu currently looks like this: some dude is on top of me, trying to apply leverage on my arm, while I’m curled up in a fetal position, just trying to survive.
That’s exactly how my Friday evening went — five four-minute rounds. One with a purple belt, two with blue belts, and two with white belts. One of the blue belts was 30kg (66 pounds) heavier than I!
Pure survival mode.
Someone on YouTube once said that you should be thankful every time you tap, because it means you’ve learned something. What I learned is that I need to be more proactive when I’m underneath someone and actually take action. Of course, that requires strength and know-how. I might already have some of the knowledge, so I’ll keep this in mind and do my best next time.
And yes — my best round was against the purple belt.
