I survived six rounds

I’m proud of myself for enduring six 6-minute rounds on Friday evening. We did some half guard passing and back-taking drills, and then came the six rounds of rolling. After each round, we had to do a one-minute sprawl drill and then had one minute to find a new partner for the next round. Needless to say, I was really exhausted.

I did the last round with a young girl, maybe 18 to 20 years old. She is a blue belt, but one of those blue belts who came up through the children’s ranking system. I don’t consider them “real” blue belts, because she probably has 10 years of training under her belt, or even more. She is athletic, but still around 30 kg lighter than me. She dominated me for five and a half minutes of the six-minute round and then, in the last second, submitted me with an armbar. That shows again how important good technique is.
